Lord Mayor of Bristol visits dedicated pharmacy worker

Ania Mularska, pharmacy dispenser at Bedminster Pharmacy, was presented with a certificate of commendation, flowers and gifts by the Right Honourable Lord Mayor of Bristol, councillor Paula O'Rourke, to mark her 10th anniversary of working in the pharmacy.

“Ania is a role model of kindness, thoughtfulness and generous spirit everyone associated with the care delivered by community pharmacy,” said Ade Williams MBE, lead pharmacist at Bedminster Pharmacy. “She has an unmatched devotion to her patients’ wellbeing and needs.”

As well as being the pharmacy Infant Care Champion, Ania also helps to educate and train the team alongside ensuring the pharmacy always has the right products available to provide the best care. In taking on this role, she has also learnt a new language and balanced the pressures of family life.

“Over the last 10 years you have exemplified the care and dedication of the NHS in our community,” said the Lord Mayor during her presentation. “I want to thank you on behalf of the city of Bristol for your service.”

The visit, which coincided with Ask your Pharmacist week, also served to highlight the valuable role of community pharmacy teams within the community. The Lord Mayor was keen to acknowledge and share her personal appreciation of the expansive clinical expertise of community pharmacy teams. “They help people to stay well, to spot putting pressures on the NHS and to live a fuller and happy life,” she said. “People should avail of that opportunity in every way they can.”

The Lord Mayor further underscored the sectors valuable self care support work commenting that “in a fractured society, where health and wellbeing advice is not always passed on from parent to child, it is good that community pharmacy, as part of the NHS, remains an ever-dependable access point for care and advice”.
